Practical Support for Social Housing Providers
Energy Efficiency Advice Centres are in a unique position to provide pragmatic support to social housing providers. The following are just a few of the ways we can assist:
Strategic Support
We can assist with the development of a comprehensive energy policy within the
organisation to integrate energy efficiency good practice throughout all
aspects of the organisation's work. This could include making sustainability a
cornerstone of the transfer agreement, housing stock regeneration and renewals,
energy management of office buildings, care homes and new development.
We can also help with the development of strategic partnerships to promote good
practice through regular consortium meetings with other social housing
providers.
Funding
We can assist the provider in securing partnership arrangements with other organisations. This may include partnerships with potential funding organisations, those that can offer advice on specific issues, or creating links with partners to assist with the funding of energy saving measures. We will also try to initiate successful programmes and will utilise a consortium/forum to gain economies of scale when searching for funding.
Advice for Tenants
We will provide free, effective and impartial advice service to tenants, which will be accurate, current and relevant to the enquirers' circumstances without bias to any commercial organisation. This may include a telephone advice line for tenants, or home visits to demonstrate effective energy management and provide advice in the home. In addition we can provide a tenants' newsletter or promotional material.
Energy Expertise
We will advise on the energy implications of new development and standard specifications. We can provide energy awareness training for managers, front-line staff and tenants' representatives.
Locally based
Centrally located within its own area, each EEAC is ideally situated to provide an active service to the region. Its geographical restrictions have enabled it to develop an inimitable expertise in dealing with the prevailing circumstances specific to that area.
Local Support Service
A small team is dedicated to developing partnerships and raising awareness of energy efficiency within Housing Associations.
