About Us
Our background
In 1992, the government signed the Rio agreement on the environment that included a commitment to reduce the levels of carbon emissions. Energy Efficiency Advice Centres (EEACs) were set up in 1993 as part of the UK Government’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions in line with the agreement made at Rio.
Who we are
Black Country and Central Midlands Energy Efficiency Advice Centres
form part of a network of 52 EEACs located across the UK. Our service is
funded by a
combination of local and national government and as such we have no commercial
interests to satisfy.

What we do
We provide free and impartial practical energy information to all householders throughout the West Midlands. One aspect of this is the FREE Home Energy Check. As part of this report we make suggestions on changes, many at low or no cost, that can be made to homes. We also provide a list of registered Energy Efficiency Installers who can carry out work that homeowners wish to implement. We provide information on any grants and/or loans that are available to help cover the costs, as well as operating specific schemes in specific areas.
We also run specific advice centres for business, schools, housing associations
and local authorities.
We can also provide speakers for interested community and educational groups on a wide variety of energy related issues.
